Is the MWCSC the same group that was/is trying to gain control of the local private water system?
YES.... The MWCSC has been working to gain local control of the water system for many years. As determined in the recent Feasibility Study, the Mark West/Wikiup/Fulton areas need a viable established entity, i.e. a Community Services District (CSD), in place in order to obtain and maintain the water system when it becomes available for purchase.
Will the creation of a CSD cost me anything more than I’m paying to the county now?
NO.... The creation of the CSD can be formed to oversee the current lighting and landscape district with no immediate cost. The county will retain all other service contracts without any increase in cost to you.
However, should the community desire the CSD to acquire additional services, a vote to increase homeowners annual parcel tax might be necessary to pay for them.
If we create a CSD, will the quality of the service(s) be the same as I am now receiving? It is the CSD’s objective to preserve the current quality of services if not improve them.
Are there any obvious reasons why we should not create a CSD?
NO....A local CSD will be able to provide a voice for the community on all affairs effecting it.The CSD will be able to obtain local control of services and keep help tax dollars here in the community.
